A rising star down under and now increasingly making waves across Europe and the Americas, independent electronic experimental songwriter and musician Avalon Kane recently released her third studio album ‘Solace’, a collaboration with fellow producers Stu Patterson (The Empty Threats) and inneralchemist. The 11-track LP sees the Adelaide-based artist build on her reputation for delivering hypnotizing, soothingly ambient soundscapes. Five lead singles have already dropped, paving the way for the full length body of work: ‘Michael Sheen’, ‘Hole Song’, ‘Don’t Believe Anymore’, ‘Killing Time’ and racking up 300,000 streams already, ‘Medusa’.
Kane has been gaining traction and fans since she released her debut album ‘222’ in 2020, followed by 2021’s ‘Celestial Voyage’. ‘Solace’ originally began as a solo project but collaborating closely with Patterson over the course of two years, the pair’s vision of what their work could achieve grew in scope and stature. The resulting album, according to Kane, combines her transcendental electronic ambiance and Patterson’s visceral and grounding compositional approaches for a body of work that presents a new and unique sonic landscape that transcends boundaries.
Collabhouse Collective, get to know our latest ‘Rising Star’ Avalon Kane...
- Name: Avalon Kane
- Genre: Electronic
- Latest release: Solace - a LP on the 22-11-24. Has been a very positive reaction from fans and new fans alike.
- Biggest release? Medusa - Sept 23. Medusa has a soft spot with a lot of people, and the textures and soundscapes we used with the track were unique to our sound and our connection to ancient tales.
- What labels have you released on: I haven't released on any major ones, just a small independent one called always haunted records. I would love to work with the label YEAR0001 as they are a hybrid music label with a focus on all arts and genres.
- Who have you collaborated with: Stu Patterson from The Empty Threats. Stu is a multi-instrumentalist who has been a prominent artist in the local music industry for over 10 years.
- Who are your musical influences? Jon Hopkins, Olafur Arnalds, The Chemical Brothers, Emma Ruth Rundle, Enya. Every sound they produce has feeling. Has depth. They never release anything that doesn't reflect their whole being. Music is a whole experience to me. I only want to release sounds that make you feel present in your emotions whatever they may be. I want to draw them out of you.
- If you could collaborate with one major artist, who would it be and why? Jon Hopkins. He is from another time. I could learn so much from him. Just to sit and listen to what he has to say. To watch him work. To watch him play.
- What’s coming up for you that we should be excited about? I'm gearing up to release the partner album to Solace early next year. This will also be available on a double vinyl which is a first for me! Also I am preparing for my first live performances that will incorporate my visual experiences too. It will be a full sound/mind/body experience at an Avalon Kane show. I'm hoping to head overseas at some point to promote my new albums and maybe play some shows!
- Where do you see yourself in 5 years? Creating, making. I'm not looking at going anywhere anytime soon. I've already started album number 5 and it is a completely different turn to number 4! I don't think I will ever stop doing this.
