  • Name: Nick Havsen
  • Genre: Old School Bigroom
  • Latest release: My latest release, "Sparta" was a collaboration with my good friend Greg Katona. Were talking about a really old project ... I think I first started it back in 2018. Later, Greg joined the project to bring his own style into the track. The main theme was to create a "crowd control" vibe in the second breakdown (inspired by the movie "300") where we can interact with the audience for a "lights up, lights down" moment. The full track was completely finished in 2024 - yes, it took a long time, but I finally felt it was ready for release. We added some great custom vocals, which make the track even more engaging and bring in elements from the "300" movie, including cinematic elements too and big drops. We maintained the bigroom vibe in the second drop with some new twists. I'm really happy with this release, and the fan response has been so positive!
  • Biggest release? ‘I have a lot of releases, and I'm proud of each one, but I would say "Bigroom Is Life" on Rave Culture was the biggest release for me. It opened a lot of doors when I started the "Nick Havsen" project and began my journey as a DJ and producer. Bigroom was my deep lov... I wanted to be a bigroom DJ and producer, and I dreamed that one day people would recognize the name Nick Havsen as synonymous with bigroom music haha... At the beginning of 2022, I made the track "Bigroom Is Life." I should mention that all the labels we sent it to rejected it at first! Then around October, Reinier and I sent the demo to Rave Culture, and it was unbelievable when they wanted to sign the track. This was a significant milestone for me, as I really wanted to get signed by Rave Culture since W&W have been my number one idols and inspirations since I started. So, yeah, that track opened many doors for me; it became something special for bigroom lovers, and I feel people will recognize the track and the name!
  • What labels have you released on: Well, I have released music on many labels since 2014, I had the opportunity, if I'm right, to release on Armada in 2016, which was a significant achievement for me at the start of my career. Dream labels have always been those of my idols to mention: W&W's Rave Culture label (which was Mainstage Music back then ) now I have there 4 release, Hardwell's Revealed Recordings Im think I have 6 releases there, Dimitri Vegas & Like Mike's Smash The House - think i have 10+ releases there, and MaRLo's Reaching Altitude - 5+ releases. That was my list of labels I wanted to release music on. The start was difficult, as I released on some smaller labels at first, which I'm proud of, and I'm thankful to them for giving a home to my music. I have also released a lot of music on TurnIt Up Muzik and still releasing there my music, where I believe I'm one of the artists with the most releases on TIUM! I'm proud of every release there and grateful for the opportunity and belief in my bigroom style. So, to get back to the main point, I have released on all these labels over the years, and I'm happy that I made it. I never gave up, even when nearly 50 demos were rejected. I'm always excited to be back and release on these labels!
  • Who have you collaborated with: YYess, I have had many collaborations in the past, as collaborating is one of the main points of this music business... Networking and collaboration can really move you forward. Ive met so many talented producers from around the world, and weve formed great friendships and relationships. Im really happy about this, i always love to share my ideas for collaborations with others, and Ive learned a lot from them as well. I cant mention everyone here, as Ive collaborated with so many people over the past 10+ years. Some notable random collaboration was an achievement during my career when I won a Skype call with Futuristic Polar Bears. I was able to show them some demos, and that led to a collaboration with them. Later the Wolfpack guys wanted to add their touch to it, resulting in an insane big tune that became one of the biggest IDs at Tomorrowland back in 2019 (if I remember the year correctly). This collaboration was incredible and gave me a significant boost, and it was released on Dimitri Vegas & Like Mike's Smash The House label. Another big achievement in my career was the collaboration with the legend Justin Prime. I had the opportunity to create the track "NEXCHAPTER" together with him. Hes a legend in my eyes, and Im proud that we collaborated! I should also mention the official remixes I did for MaRLo. Some of my great collaboration buddies include the CODEX guys, Mike Miami, GRYM, Ezra Hazard, AKI-HIRO, David White, Rayven, MaticK, Rave Republic, XanTz, Wav3motion, K1LO, Lockdown, L3N, Buiatti, and EMKR. I apologize if I missed anyone!
  • Who are your musical influences? Some of my biggest influences have been my idols since I started in DJing and producing. I watched them on YouTube, and they motivated me to begin my journey. The W&W boys, Dimitri Vegas & Like Mike, and Hardwell were my top three influences at the start. I still love the sound of W&W .... their live set vibes and musical style truly resonate with me. Likewise, Dimitri Vegas & Like Mike and Hardwell inspired me when they played all the bigroom tracks. I'm still a big fan of the last two as well!
  • If you could collaborate with one major artist, who would it be and why? Definitely, I would love to collaborate with the W&W boys. It would be a dream collaboration if I could achieve this. First of all, they are my idols and inspirations, they have influenced me since the start of my journey. I really admire their musical style, and it would be amazing if it could happen in the future. But I believe in the saying "never say never" I will never give up and will do my best to make this collaboration a reality!
  • What’s coming up for you that we should be excited about? Well, I'm working on a lot of new music, including many new IDs that I can't wait to share with my fans and audience. There are plenty of bigroom bangers, new solos, and collaborations in the pipeline. I'm also working on an EP with over 10 tracks, all of which will be free (...) I can't share more information about this because I want to create a surprise for my audience. Additionally, I'm preparing a one-hour live set that will be something special -not just a regular set where I tease only my new IDs! I have a lot of unreleased music, and some big releases are coming up soon!
  • Where do you see yourself in 5 years? Good question! I try my best to give my all to music and continually improve. In these 10 years, I have achieved so much that I could only dream of when I started this journey in 2014. Music has given me everything I ever dreamed of. I want to continue playing around the world, meeting new people, releasing new music, and making big collaborations. I’m committed to doing my best to achieve the goals on my list that I haven't yet accomplished, and I hope to reach them in the next years!
  • Message for the Collabhouse Community: Let’s continue to support one another and share our passions. Every collaboration is a chance to learn and create something special. Keep chasing your dreams and believing in the power of music! "Bigroom is Life"
